Lazard Bolsters Power, Energy & Infrastructure Team as Energy Transition Shifts Industry Focus
Lazard is strengthening its global Power, Energy & Infrastructure Advisory practice by combining with the Oil & Gas Advisory team and Lazard’s Climate Center – creating one of the largest independent advisory practices supporting Power, Energy Transition, Infrastructure, and Oil and Gas clients.
The unified team will be led by George Bilicic, Vice Chairman and Global Head of Power, Energy & Infrastructure, now comprised of approximately 60 bankers in the U.S., co-located in Houston and New York.
“By combining our leading practices across disciplines, we’re creating scale to diversify the advice Lazard provides clients within the sector – from large, public companies to private equity – as there is unprecedented appetite for renewable energy and energy transition transactions,” said Mr. Bilicic. “At the same time, there are tremendous strategic opportunities in traditional Power, Utilities and Oil and Gas – the unified practice structure will allow us to better serve clients in those areas as well.”
Lazard brings unique perspectives and thought leadership within the sector, having recently released its Levelized Cost of Energy+ report, which analyzes the levelized costs of energy from various generation technologies, energy storage technologies and hydrogen production methods. Lazard’s Climate Center will continue to provide insights and tools for business leaders and investors to integrate climate change considerations into strategic decisions and corporate finance.
Peter Orszag, CEO of Financial Advisory, recently emphasized that energy transition is one of his top three focus areas during a panel discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference, saying: “I am very optimistic about the opportunities in energy transition.” Peter recently delivered the opening remarks during Lazard’s inaugural Climate and Energy Transition conference held in April, where more than 150 corporate leaders, investors, policy makers and economists discussed the financial impacts, risks and opportunities presented by climate change and the energy transition.
