Middle Market Full-Time Program

The Analyst Program offers an extremely unique and challenging opportunity to highly motivated graduates interested in an Investment Banking career. The Analyst Program is an intensive three-year training program, with a two-year minimum, after which participants move on to graduate school or pursue other career opportunities. In the case of demonstrated exceptional performance and potential, Analysts may be considered for promotion to Associate.

We host a generalist M&A program, where Analysts have the opportunity to explore different groups through project assignments in a variety of industry groups.

Role and Responsibilities

The Analyst serves as a key member of the deal team, working with a Managing Director and a mid-level investment banker. The Analyst will be given significant responsibility and will receive client exposure, deal experience, and an understanding of transaction structures. In most M&A assignments, the Analyst assists in the following:

  • Preparation of new business presentations
  • Business research
  • Valuation analysis
  • Improving the quality and timeliness of all client-related work
  • Preparation of Confidential Offering Memoranda
  • Spreadsheet, business plan, budget and forecast preparation and analysis

Training and Development

Analysts participate in a three-week training program in Minneapolis, which includes courses in accounting, valuation and Microsoft Excel taught by industry professionals. In addition to on-the-job learning, we also offer continuing professional development programs and mentorships.

Qualifications and Skills

Qualified candidates typically possess a combination of the following attributes:

  • Strong undergraduate academic performance
  • Background in accounting, finance, or economics preferred, but not required
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to work a demanding schedule
  • Highly motivated, with a strong desire to be the “best of the best”

The Associate position offers a career opportunity in Investment Banking for bright, motivated and mature individuals interested in joining a highly successful Investment Banking firm specializing in middle-market Mergers and Acquisitions.

Role and Responsibilities

The Associate serves as a key member of the deal team, working directly with Managing Directors, Directors, Vice Presidents and Analysts on engagements. The Associate will be given significant responsibility and will gain in-depth transaction experience, client exposure, negotiation skills, and an understanding of transaction structures. In most M&A assignments, the Associate will perform and oversee the following functions:

  • Preparation and participation in new business presentations
  • Industry and business research
  • Valuation analysis and financial modeling
  • Preparation of Confidential Offering Memoranda
  • Development of potential buyer lists
  • Preparation of management presentations
  • Interaction with clients and potential acquirers
  • Development, training and mentoring of Analysts

  • MBA or equivalent Master’s/graduate degree in progress
  • Mergers and Acquisition experience is a plus
  • Background in Investment Banking, public accounting, or finance
