Analysts typically join Lazard after completing and undergraduate or Master’s/graduate degree. Lazard typically hires 50 first-year Analysts per class year in the U.S.
Day-to-day activities of an Analyst vary, but will include: financial analysis and modeling, company and industry research, participating in the development of client presentations, and interactions with senior bankers and clients.
Analysts participate in a six-week training program in New York City, which includes courses in accounting, valuation and Excel taught by industry professionals. In addition to on-the-job learning, Lazard also offers Continuing Professional Development programs and mentorships.

New York: Analysts will be hired directly into one of the following groups: M&A, Restructuring, Capital Markets Advisory, Private Fund Advisory, Corporate Preparedness, or Corporate Strategy.
Analysts joining one of the M&A or Restructuring groups will initially be hired into a pool, then placed within an M&A industry team or Restructuring. Analysts will undergo a pre-training process designed to help the Analyst and the group assess the strongest cultural fit for a formal, group assignment.

Boston: Technology
Chicago: M&A (Midwest Advisory) or Restructuring
Houston: Oil & Gas, Energy, Airline
Los Angeles: Aerospace and Defense, Consumer/Retail, Gaming and Lodging
San Francisco: Healthcare, Technology or Convertibles

Associates typically join Lazard after completing an MBA or other Master’s/graduate degree, or after several years of experience in Finance. Lazard typically hires 15-20 first-year Associates per class year.
Day-to-day activities of an Associate include: financial analysis and modeling, creating and preparing client presentations, interacting with clients, managing transaction processes and providing guidance to Analysts, among other activities.
Associates participate in a two-week training program in New York City, which includes valuation courses and Series 79 preparation taught by industry professionals. In addition to on-the-job learning, Lazard also offers Continuing Professional Development programs.
