Lazard 2011-2012 MBA Recruiting Season

Each year Lazard visits leading business schools throughout the U.S. Our hiring is done regionally, therefore opportunities vary by location.

Please check with your career office to learn about on-campus recruiting presentations, resume drop and interview dates at your university. Although we do not recruit at every business school, we encourage all candidates to apply at the designated times.

Associates

Associates typically join Lazard after earning an MBA or other advanced degree, or after several years of experience in the field of finance.

Associates participate in a two-week training program which includes valuation courses and Series 79 preparation, both taught by industry professionals. In addition to on-the-job learning, Lazard also offers on-going professional development programs to further develop quantitative and qualitative investment banking skills.

At Lazard, Associates work as part of client teams which provide a wide range of services, including: general financial advice, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, special committee assignments, takeover defenses, corporate restructurings, strategic partnerships/joint ventures, advice on capital structure, and underwritings.

Lazard offers an unparalleled opportunity to work as part of small deal teams on strategic and other assignments, providing meaningful exposure to senior bankers and client representatives.

Day-to-day activities of an Associate include: financial analysis and modeling, creating and preparing client presentations, interacting with clients, managing deal processes and providing guidance to Analysts, among other activities.

A strong quantitative background and good verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidates should be highly motivated top academic performers who are comfortable in an unstructured environment where initiative, creativity, maturity, and poise are highly valued. While not a requirement, previous investment banking experience is looked upon favorably.

Summer Associates

Summer Associates typically join Lazard between their first and second year of business school. We also consider those in their final summer before completion of a JD or JD/MBA degree.

Summer Associates participate in a one-week training program which includes classes taught by Lazard bankers and industry professionals. Summer Associates are also invited to participate in various social and networking events with bankers across the Firm.

Day-to-day activities of a Summer Associate are dependent on the candidate's prior experience and abilities, but are similar to that of an Associate. In addition to focusing on client-related assignments, we encourage Summer Associates to explore the firm and become acquainted with their Lazard colleagues through both formal and informal mentoring opportunities.
